The minimum wage of U.S. workers first appeared in 1933 as part of the National Industrial Recovery Act and was set at 25 cents. Since its introduction the minimum wage has climbed steadily with new minimum values adjusted occasionally. The minimum wage currently resides at $7.25 per hour and was set in July 2009.
